Increasingly, civil conflict management is being accepted as a viable alternative to military intervention. It opens up ways for the parties involved to balance out their interests and to live together without violence, thus creating the necessary foundations for sustainable peace.

The growing recognition that this is an effective instrument with which to intervene in crisis areas is leading to a growing demand for qualified personnel.

This sort of peace work can only be successful if those involved have the necessary skills. Analysis of conflicts, methods of peaceful conflict resolution, consultation and advice in peacebuilding processes, supporting traumatised victims, project management, action planning - there is a great variety of tasks involved and these demand not only commitment and life experience but also well-grounded skills and knowledge.

The Academy for Conflict Transformation within the Forum Civil Peace Service

The Academy for Conflict Transformation is a leading provider of training and certification to impart the practical skills and knowledge needed for civil conflict management in crisis areas. It can draw on many years' experience training expert staff for the Civil Peace Service, development aid and organisations. Founded in 2004, the Academy is an institution within the Forum Civil Peace Service which carries out peace projects in the Middle East, the western Balkans, South-East Asia and in Germany. Since its foundation, the Academy has continually expanded the range of services it offers, adapting them to meet increasing requirements.
